Archäologie des Mithraskultes. Architektur und Kultpraxis am Beispiel der Tempel von Güglingen, Kreis Heilbronn

Ines Siemers-Klenner

The present volume reconstructs the history of the mithraea of Güglingen. In addition, rich finds provide insight into hitherto unknown areas of the liturgical practice of the cult of Mithras.

In 1999 and 2002, two mithraeums were discovered in Güglingen. The first was a stone building and at the time of its discovery had already been stripped of almost all its temple furnishings. In a second, smaller half-timbered building, on the other hand, large parts of the inventory were preserved under the collapsed tiled roof, consisting of stone monuments, crockery, personal objects of the cult participants, consecration offerings of various kinds and remains of the liturgical utensils.

The present volume reconstructs the construction history of the temples. In addition, rich finds provide insight into hitherto unknown areas of the liturgical practice of the cult of Mithras.
